A Trilogy That Wasnt: Theodore Boone- Kid Lawyer

A perfect murder
A faceless witness
A lone courtroom champion knows the whole truth . . . and he’s only thirteen years old
Meet Theodore Boone

In the small city of Strattenburg, there are many lawyers, and though he’s only thirteen years old, Theo Boone thinks he’s one of them. Theo knows every judge, policeman, court clerk—and a lot about the law. He dreams of being a great trial lawyer, of a life in the courtroom.

But Theo finds himself in court much sooner than expected. Because he knows so much—maybe too much—he is suddenly dragged into the middle of a sensational murder trial. A cold-blooded killer is about to go free, and only Theo knows the truth.

The stakes are high, but Theo won’t stop until justice is served.

Brimming with the intrigue and suspense that made John Grisham a #1 international bestseller and the undisputed master of the legal thriller, Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer will keep readers guessing and pages turning.

The story starts with the Courtroom and ends with the Courtroom. It takes us through the case of State vs Mr Duffy. Mr Duffy is accused of murdering his wife. A murder filled with circumstantial evidence against Mr. Duffy.

Theo is a 13-year-old who is far older than his years. He dreams of being a famous trial lawyer and gives sound legal advice to anyone who approaches him. He is good at academics and even volunteers at the Local Homeless Shelter.

The most thrilling case in the city of Strattenburg is coming up for Trial. Theo keeps up with every moment of the case, even hacking into the courtroom network to get transcripts of the case. His smart inferences keep the reader enthralled.

The writing style of Grisham is easy and attractive. It is meant for children and brings up their interest in law and how the system works. After a mediocre book as ‘ The Summons ‘, Grisham comes back strongly to keep up the Reader’s interest in the case.

Theo finds a surprise witness who has information that could turn the case around. The Defense would not have any case if this witness comes to light. The story takes on sinister hues when the witness finds evidence directly linking Mr Duffy to the case.

The end was unpredictable, short and frankly disappointing. But i think its become a Grisham habit to disappoint. After keeping me so interested with the whole case, the end is extremely disappointing to say at the least. Instead of solving the whole case in a dramatic way, the Judge declares a mistrial.

I looked up Theodore Boone, and to my delight it was a Trilogy. I thought the story will continue but my hopes did not last long. I learned that the Trilogy was only 3 different books about the Character.

The brilliant build up of the book ends up making a mess of your enthusiasm. But the build up is wonderful and i cant take away points for that.

My Rating: 2.5/5

The Book thrills you much like those Hardy Boys and Nancy Drews but fails to live up till the end.

The end is really not worth writing about. After a great story, it is really silly if the writer ends it hurriedly in 5-10 pages. It is worth it fleshing out a strong ending.

Pick this book out to give to kids to read. As an adult read, its fun, reminiscing your childhood.

But pick it if you don’t mind having an extremely botched up ending to an interesting story.
